What is an e-Khata and why do I need it?
An e-Khata is the digital ownership record that BBMP keeps for your flat, site or building. You need it to pay property tax in your name, and it is asked for when you sell the property or apply for a bank loan.
What documents do I need for an e-Khata?
Keep the sale deed, the latest property tax receipt, the owner's Aadhaar, a photo of the property and a recent electricity bill ready. If any of these are missing, tell us — recovering missing papers is also a service we offer.
What is the difference between A Khata and B Khata?
An A Khata means the property is in BBMP's main register with all approvals in order. A B Khata means the property is in a separate register, usually because of pending approvals or dues, which can limit loans and building sanctions. We check which one your property has and explain the path forward.
The Khata is still in the old owner's name. Can you transfer it?
Yes. After you buy a property, the Khata has to be transferred to your name using the registered sale deed and up-to-date tax receipts. We handle the application and follow-up with the ward office for you.
How long does an e-Khata take?
We review your documents within one to two days. After the application is filed, BBMP usually takes one to three weeks depending on the ward office and whether tax dues are clear. We keep you updated at every step.
How much does it cost?
The total has two parts: the government fee, which depends on your property, and our service charge. We confirm the exact amount after a free review of your documents — there is no charge just to ask.
